The READER" is a a Holocaust-themed movie based on the 1995 German novel of the same name by Bernhard Schlink, a German lawyer who as a teenager in the late 1950s had an affair with an older woman, Hanna Schmitz, who then vanished only to reappear years later as one of the defendants in a war crimes trial stemming from her actions as a guard at a Nazi concentration camp in the later years of World War II..
''THE READER" was written by David Hare and directed by Stephen Daldry, and stirring Ralph Fiennes and Kate Winslet along with the young actor David Kross. The film was produced by Anthony Minghella, Sydney Pollack( It was the last film for both of whom
died before it was released).Production was started in Germany in September 2007, and the
film opened in limited release on 10 December 2008.
